I am gonna touch on a subject that may make you a little uncomfortable.
Too much cheese makes slow transit time. Cheese has a protein called caesin. This protein is what they use to make some types of glue. Glue in your colon...hmmmmmmmm...sounds sticky to me. Needless to say this will slow down the digestive process. For someone with IBS this is not a good thing. This is not a good thing for anyone. When you slow down the process you have putrification going on. This leads to distress in the gastrointesinal system. Also this can lead to a toxic colon. When these toxins recirculate back into the bloodstream we can have all kinds of possible issues going on. Today my symptom was that I couldn't hardly stay awake after my morning fruit today. This is a minor symptom...you should goggle what else goes along with having a toxic bowel for any length of time..for example:
A toxic colon can...
Be the cause of headaches
Weaken and stress your heart.
Cause skin blemishes, paleness, psoriasis, liver spots and wrinkles.
Irritate the lungs and cause bad breath.
Affect the brain, disturb mental functions and cause senility.
Cause pain and stiffness in the joints and contribute to arthritis.
Cause muscle weakness and fatigue.
Rob you of your youth, ruin your wellness and cause premature aging.
Yes, I have been going to the bathroom everyday. You can be eliminating everyday and still not fully evacuate. It is best to have a one day turn around in your elimation process. Test yourself. Eat some beets and watch to see how long it takes to eliminate. You will know when you have because they are RED. This is how I check myself.
Too much cheese for me. It is time to go back to my old RAW VEGAN ways. I repent!! I repent away from cheese and back towards better health!! Here I come.

Faux Tapioca & The China Study
I am feeling so good eating High Raw! No PAIN, no bloating, no sleepy spells even if I haven't gotten a full night's sleep. No more missing out on life or spending time with my loved ones.
What is more important? Feeding my appetite for food that doesn't really nourish my body or feeding my cells with enzymes that create life and allow me to live life to it's fullest. I am choosing life.
Living foods produce life!
Today's cellular feeding~
16 oz of watermelon juice
32 oz of green lemonade
bowl of~pineapple, banana, blueberries, sesame seeds and coconut
Chipotle~Salad, romaine, grilled veggies, pico de gallo, med. salsa, corn salsa, guacamole & a handful of chips (chips were not raw and are not full of life giving enzymes~this is where my humanity comes into play)
FAUX TAPIOCA~CHIA PUDDING
soaked chia seeds
creamed coconut 100% coconut
coconut flakes unsweetened
vanilla
a little raw blue agave
a few drops of liquid Stevia
I had a movie night with my hubby and got a bit hungry, so I ate
a red bell pepper stuffed with raw milk cheese and garlic .
I would really like to get away from dairy again, but when it is in the house I have a difficult time saying no. My mind calls me to it, but my cells want freedom from it. The only consolation I have right now is that it is raw.
I recommend reading "The China Study" by T. Colin Campbell...his scientific studies show that the protein in dairy (casein) turns the cancer switch on and when you eliminate it, it is turned off. Lot's of good information about how nutrition affects the disease process. This is heavy reading but well worth the effort.

Complete Breathing, Yoga, Setting up a Home Gym, Chocolate Chia Seed Pudding & Raw Pizza
It's a rainy day here...time to enjoy the peaceful sounds of the rain....there is something soothing about it. Time to listen....listen to myself breath and take in deep breaths and oxygenate my cells. Every day we should stop and pay attention to our breath. Take 10 full slow complete breaths and release them slowly. Do this several times a day. This is good for stress, it helps move toxins out of the body. It helps the skin become smoother with a reduction of facial wrinkles. They say it even helps in weight reduction. To read more about the benefits go to http://www.holisticonline.com/Yoga/hol_yoga_breathing_Importance.htm Follow the links on the bottom of the page to learn about proper breathing techniques. (Disclaimer~ I am not recommending all items listed on this site~do your own research)
Yoga is another part of my lifestyle. It has a balancing and strenthening effect and brings a peacefulness when you practice it. I first began doing Yoga at the local library. They were offerning a class 2 nights a week. I could not believe the difference I felt in just a couple of weeks. That was over two years ago and I try to incorportate in into my fitness routine regularly, even if it is only for 20 mins. You can find a beginners guide to Yoga on this page http://holisticonline.com/Yoga/hol_yoga_home.htm
HOME GYM~
I found that I could not get to the gym as often I would like to. It is too far away and was robbing me of valuable time. That is when I set up my home gym. I had accumulated all of the equipment from purchases in the past, some new, some from garage sales and my wonderful video/DVD collection from Half -price Bookstore. Almost every video tape I purchased was only 50cents!!! Pretty cheap compared to a gym membership. Now I don't have to schedule my life around their scheduled classes or trips into town. It takes about 45 mins. to get there..that is an hour and a half round trip. I could be finished working out by that time.
Be creative...shop around, go to the goodwill & garage sales. Many people buy equipment and find out they just don't want to use it. I have had some items just given to me. What a huge blessing it has turned out to be. Sometimes when others know that you are making this part of your lifestyle they are willing to sale cheap or bless you with a gift.
Walking is a very inexpensive way to get started in physical activity. That is where I began many years ago, thanks to the inspiration of my aunt & uncle making this part of their lifestyle.
If you cannot find a place to walk outside, there are workout programs for walking indoors. If you cannot afford or find an inexpensive video recording, go to the library. Usually these are free to check out. You may be able to find all that you need there.
I began my day with
20 oz of watermelon juice
2~16 oz bottles of green lemonade
noon:
1 banana sliced
1 c. strawberries
1/2 c. blueberries
1 c. pineapple sliced
sprinkle of sesame seeds & unsweetened coconut (I find the seeds are great for my digestive tract and elimination)
MSM~3 capsules
mid afternoon~
CHCOLATE CHIA SEED PUDDING
4 T. soaked chia seeds
1 T. raw cacao powder (you could use cocoa powder)
1 T. raw blue agave (you could use maple syrup or honey)
dash of vanilla
mx and enjoy!
This pudding's texture reminds me of tapioca. Maybe next time I'll try to add some coconut flakes, vanilla and lemon to see if this comes out more like the traditional tapioca or maybe coconut milk and lemon to try to get a cheesecake flavor.....
Be creative with your recipes. Don't be afraid to try something new and if you have children let them be part of this adventure...make it fun and perhaps they will adopt a healthier lifestyle too!
Chia seeds can also be added to smoothies.
Chia seeds has an abundance of nutrtional benefits check out Angela Stokes cheat sheet http://www.rawreform.com/content/view/345/127/ This sheet will also give you instructions for soaking the seeds.
My daughter was eating pizza this evening and it smelled good so I decided to make me one. I cannot eat the traditional pizza because of my gastro-intestinal issues and find that the raw pizza's I make do not cause me distress.
Evening meal:
RAW PIZZA
flax seed bread (previously made, recipe will follow)
Layered in this order:
Macho Nacho Sauce~for cheese sauce
Marinated Portabella mushrooms~warmed
shredded carrots
bits of parsley
I also sprinkled crushed red peppers on top!
FLAX SEED BREAD/CRACKERS
Soaked golden flax seeds
diced red peppers & diced hot red pepper
shredded carrots
dried onions
garlic pressed or powdered
mix together to get a sticky mixture and spread on teflex sheets in dehydrator, score into squares and dry at 105 degrees until dry enough to turn over onto a screened tray in dehydrator and finish drying. I use an Excalibur dehydrator.
You can use any combination of seasoning you want with the flax seed. Follow this link for information on Flax seeds http://www.naturalnews.com/024359_flax_flaxseed_omega-3.html
MACHO NACHO SAUCE~ taken from "How We All Went Raw" ~by Charles Nungesser & Stephen Malachi
In a blender, add:
1/2 c. distilled water
1 red bell pepper, washed and seeded
1/2 c. pine nuts ( I used raw macadamia nuts)
1/2 c. sunflower seeds
1 T. miso(optional if used omit sea salt)
1 garlic clove
1 T. fresh lemon juice
1 Fresno pepper (red Jalapeno)
1 1/2 t. sea salt
blend on high until creamy. Serve on top of tacos or as a dip for chips.
The marinara sauce I used can be found here...they only thing I changed up was to add 1 can of muir glen chopped tomatoes with basil/garlic & fresh chopped portabella and warm it slightly on the stovetop http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLi5657CSos
I topped off my meal with a small piece of Dagoba 87% organic chocolate, eclipse
35 mins. on my rebounder (mini trampoline) and 60 mins. yoga practice
BTW~the second dose of chocolate was not a good idea..about 3/4 of the way through my yoga I felt queasy.....
Time to go spend some quality time with the kid's :)

Being Prepared, Wheatgrass, Watermelon juice & Green powders
1st thing this morning I drank 8 oz of watermelon juice
After watching a youtube this morning I was inspired to have some
wheatgrass/coconut water juice~this juice is alkalizing, hydrating and cleansing... for the benefits of wheatgrass check out this site http://www.hippocratesinst.org/Wheatgrass/Benefits-of-Wheatgrass.aspx
for the benfits of coconut water go to here http://www.knowledgebase-script.com/demo/export.php?ID=320&type=PDF
noon~bowl of pineapple, banana, raspberry, blueberries, blackberries, sprinkled with sesame seeds and coconut flakes (unsweetened)
8 oz of watermelon juice(prior to my walk)
MSM~ 3 capsules
Snack before dinner
1 red bell pepper, 1 red hot sweet pepper~didn't know it was hot til I started chewing!!!
handful of fresh strawberries
dinner~Big Salad with mixed greens~leaf lettuces, collards, parsley, celery tops, grated carrots & cabbage, cherry tomatoes, pressed garlic, 1/2 avocado diced, squeeze of lemon
Salad Dressing~ small tomato, 1/2 red bell pepper, clove of garlic, 1/2 avocado, 1/2 of a lime squeezed and blended in vitamix
I added a light sprinkle of nutritional yeast for some added flavor
My salad was too big I couldn't finish it.....
My daughter and I went on a 3 mile walk in the 90 degree weather today....we had a good sweat!
Today I was not prepared so I did not drink the amount of juice that I usually drink...I really enjoy my green lemonade and always feel energized and super hydrated during the day.
Being prepared is essential to this lifestyle. Watermelon juice is an easy one to make quickly.
Just throw some chunks into a blender and strain or pour into a glass and watch the pulp come to the top. Drink the juice and toss the pulp into your compost pile, unless you have blood sugar issues. You may want to drink it with the pulp as a smoothie or skip the watermelon juice. It can be too sweet for some people and spike the blood sugar. They digest so quickly that they will cause digestive distress for most people. I find it is best to have them first thing in the morning and then wait for at least 30-60 mins before I have anything else.
Sometimes I use green powders. They are very convenient for when I don't have time to make my juice. You add the powder to water or juice, it can also be added to smoothies. Powders are not the best choice but it is better than doing without. Always make sure that the powder is dehydrated at a low temperature and organic. This will preserve most of the valuable enzymes.
Another way to be prepared is to always have fresh fruit and veggies around the house and take some with you when you go out. That way if your errands take longer than planned you'll have something to eat and not be tempted to indulge in something that is not good for you. I like to take a cooler bag with an ice pack and some juice and fruits and/or veggies. If I don't have time to cut them up I will try to clean them and pack a knife if needed. You could also take some seed crackers~ I usually keep a box in my car. Raw nuts, raw trail mix are a couple other choices. Just don't over indulge. Nuts are fatty and remember to drink plenty of water with your dehydrated fruits. Beware some people have trouble digesting nuts and fruits. It is always best to practice proper food combining. (You can find food combining charts on the web for free)
If the ideas shared are not feasible there is always a grocery store. They have fresh fruits and veggies. Just go to your produce department, get some bottled water to clean them up and there you go. You can usually find produce chopped up and ready to eat. Just read the label to make sure it is preservative free.
Also, keep a paring knife in your vehicle for times like these.
If you are really ambitious ~after your purchases you can clean and cut up some of your produce and have it ready to throw together a quick meal or take along. Usually one day a week I will try to spend several hours in the kitchen making 2 to 3 salads and other dishes that are ready to consume for my busy scheduled days. This is extremely helpful.
I have many other ideas I will share as I go along but for now that should get you started.
Now I have to go and make my green lemonade!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I just finished with my kitchen duty for this evening and am sitting down with my raw milk cheese some peppers and seed crackers...I made almost one gallon of green lemonade, 3 pints of smoothies, watermelon juice ( I cut up a watermelon for my hubby to take to work & with the white edges and some red parts I made my juice~he doesn't like the white parts, which are good for you, so I let nothing go to waste)
almost 1 gallon of GREEN LEMONADE
4 bunches of celery
8 rainbow chard leaves
1 large zuchinni
1 large cucumber
1 beet
5 lemons
1 large piece of ginger
6 squirts of liquid stevia
It looks kinda dirty but taste delish...cannot wait to devour some in the a.m.
I also made some smoothies
MANGO/BANANA/KIWI SMOOTHIE
2 mangos
3 bananas
2 kiwi
spinach to the top of the vitamix
1 c. of water
blend and fill 3 pint jars
Community Supported Agriculture, Banana Split Ice cream smoothie & Raw Cheese Quesadilla
We are having a hot and humid 90 degree day with sunshine!!! Lot's of Vitamin D available today.
Wednesday's are my pick up day for CSA (community supported agriculture). If you are not familiar with them..here is a website to learn about them.. http://www.localharvest.org/csa/ Each week I get a share of my local farmer's crop that feeds a family of four that consumes a primarily plant based diet. Prior to the planting season I make arrangements to pay for the seasons harvest, which is 26 weeks. I have been doing this for 5 years and we love the fresh variety of produce and we get to support our local farmer's. We have been working with our farmer for about 7 years and he uses only sustainable & organic farming methods..Our portion today consisted of a bunch of kale, bok choy, mixed salad greens, (Yah!! for greens) 4 red peppers, a couple of tomatoes, a bunch of carrots, butternut squash, basil, okra, chives and
2nd peppers (2nd's are not choice but they will throw those in as freebies)so...with all of this plus yesterday's produce I purchased at the Farmer's Market our family should be set with more than enough and with the overflow I will dehydrate what I cannot use.
The family that host the CSA also has access to raw milk cheese, raw milk, organic meats, bakery goods, homemade soaps and other items as well as ordering wholesale from the warehouse to purchase organic and other healthy foodstuffs and personal items. I also network with another group that purchases wholesale organic produce from a distributor locally, which we order monthly. This is really great in the winter months. This is community support in action as we all work together ~some providing, some helping, distributing and delivering to one another when needed. Each of us is needed and mutually blessed~
This morning I had 1 quart of watermelon juice
2~16 oz bottles of green lemonade
bowl of banana, pineapple, blueberries topped with walnuts
mid afternoon~ romaine lettuce, 1 heaping T. of black beans & corn, 1/3 c. pico de gallo, grilled zuchinni & peppers,small amount of guacamole, non-raw chipotle dressing & about 6 corn chips
After this meal I couldn't hardly stay awake... Live enzymes are where it is at...
I went out to eat with my youngest daughter to have some special alone time with her and by the end of our time I felt like a zombie...we went for a walk and I could barely keep my eyes focused.. :(
So when we got home I prepared a banana split ice cream/smoothie & I ate 1 cup & sprinkled more cacao nibs on it. I am awake now :):):)
BANANA SPLIT ICE CREAM/SMOOTHIE
In this order put into a Vitamix: 12 oz of coconut milk, 4 bananas, raw cacao nibs, frozen strawberries, raw honey and vanilla, blend and add enough ice to make it super thick..what we didn't eat I froze for later. You could also use frozen bananas instead of ice.
RAW CHEESE QUESADILLA
late night snack...which I need to give up...raw cheese quesadilla~red bullhorn pepper sliced lengthwise and filled with pressed garlic & gouda raw milk cheese..
This afternoon I jumped on the trampoline for 10 mins. and did a 55 min cardio sculpt workout and this evening I walked for 3 miles
I would also like to say that every day I drink lots of water...this will go without saying(posting) from now on :)
Wednesday's are my pick up day for CSA (community supported agriculture). If you are not familiar with them..here is a website to learn about them.. http://www.localharvest.org/csa/ Each week I get a share of my local farmer's crop that feeds a family of four that consumes a primarily plant based diet. Prior to the planting season I make arrangements to pay for the seasons harvest, which is 26 weeks. I have been doing this for 5 years and we love the fresh variety of produce and we get to support our local farmer's. We have been working with our farmer for about 7 years and he uses only sustainable & organic farming methods..Our portion today consisted of a bunch of kale, bok choy, mixed salad greens, (Yah!! for greens) 4 red peppers, a couple of tomatoes, a bunch of carrots, butternut squash, basil, okra, chives and
2nd peppers (2nd's are not choice but they will throw those in as freebies)so...with all of this plus yesterday's produce I purchased at the Farmer's Market our family should be set with more than enough and with the overflow I will dehydrate what I cannot use.
The family that host the CSA also has access to raw milk cheese, raw milk, organic meats, bakery goods, homemade soaps and other items as well as ordering wholesale from the warehouse to purchase organic and other healthy foodstuffs and personal items. I also network with another group that purchases wholesale organic produce from a distributor locally, which we order monthly. This is really great in the winter months. This is community support in action as we all work together ~some providing, some helping, distributing and delivering to one another when needed. Each of us is needed and mutually blessed~
This morning I had 1 quart of watermelon juice
2~16 oz bottles of green lemonade
bowl of banana, pineapple, blueberries topped with walnuts
mid afternoon~ romaine lettuce, 1 heaping T. of black beans & corn, 1/3 c. pico de gallo, grilled zuchinni & peppers,small amount of guacamole, non-raw chipotle dressing & about 6 corn chips
Blended Salad & Green Lemonade Recipe
As I said on my last post people are always wanting to know what I am eating and how to make it so I'm going to begin posting what I eat as often as I am able...this is for my own accountability and to give you some ideas too....
I began my day with 32 oz of green lemonade~ I juiced celery, rainbow chard, spinach, cukes, zuchinni,beet tops, lemon, ginger and added stevia
mid morning~ 1 c pineapple and 1 c blueberries
water
mid-afternoon~
Blended salad~ 1 mango, 4 roma tomatoes, handful of romaine, handful of spinach, a few sprigs of parsely
for my sweet tooth I had~
1 t. Cacao Bliss (raw chocolate coconut butter)
1t. Amazon Bliss (raw coconut butter with superfoods ~acai, yacon, cacao nibs & goji berries)
evening~
nori roll~guacamole, grated cabbage, shredded carrots, diced red bell pepper, diced cuke, squeeze of lime, diced tomato and I use the tomato to wet the nori roll before rolling it up...yummy!
I just made a gallon of green lemonade for the next couple days, I store it in brown glass bottles in the coldest part of the fridge...be careful so they don't explode from freezing...this took me some trial & error...
4 bunches of celery
5 lemons
1 finger of ginger
3 small zuchinni
1/2 cuke
tops from 1 sm bunch of beets
8 collard leaves
7 squirts of liquid stevia
I'm drinking about 24 oz of this green juice right now and it is good...
I jumped on my mini trampoline for about 25 mins and did some strength training with weights.
Home Gym & IBS
Greetings to all of my raw and curious friends out there! I have had a very busy summer. My husband and I joined a gym, which was a great kick-start to getting back into routine work outs. I love to walk outdoors and we live in a great place for this...lots of trees and fresh air away from the city. I set up my home gym in our sunroom and have used this to encourage my youngest child to get into the habit of exercising. We have been doing some fun 5k's in the local parks this summer also.
Prior to this year..for 3 years I have been battling IBS/colitis in a wicked way as I have been discovering what works and doesn't for my body. During this time I have lost a lot of muscle and strength. I'd begin to feel better for a time as I implemented a high raw diet and then I'd do something to mess it up again..like eat pizza, cooked food or bad combination and then I'd flare up again. Constipation, pain, inflammation, bloating, trapped painful gas, enemas, colonics and fear of eating again, etc. I think one of the worst things about it was that it interferred with my family life. At one point we feared that I would die because I was so weak and sickly. BUT over this past summer I figured it out..RAW, RAW, RAW....and good food combining..fresh air, exercise, a positive attitute and having friends to encourage you. I felt great all summer, life has been good.
THEN....I decided to indulge a bit...a little here a little there...then kaboom!!!! I had a flare up! The first week ..I fruit/juice fasted and went and got a colonic...it really drained me but the second week I was feeling a little stronger. I share this so you know that I am human and I fail, but I know that when I am 100 percent raw or even high raw I am symptom free and I feel wonderful...high energy, my skin glows and my attitude is more positive...I have a freedom to live and I am not bound by my physcial condition.
This raw living is a lifestyle....it attracts people...they want to know what you are eating, why you eat this way and they see a difference in you, a vibrance, a life force !!! It gives you a great opportunity to share with others that they don't have to be sick and feel bad. It is a process of growing and learning and educating yourself and also becoming aware of this wonderfully complex body that we live in that must have a master designer and what a Marvelous designer He must be!!
